Plans and billing
What do I actually get with an EmpathyHost plan?
Your own hosting account and your own Ubuntu server with full root access, in the region you choose, with free SSL, daily backups and free migration. Plans are sized for one, two or five websites at $25, $40 or $80 a month USD. What runs on the server is up to you: WordPress, Node, Laravel, Python, Docker, n8n, your agents.
Is EmpathyHost for builders or for business owners?
Both. Builders get a real Linux server with root, SSH, Docker, git deploy and staging, and no hand-holding. Entrepreneurs get one site hosted somewhere quick, with patching, backups and SSL handled and people to talk to. Same plans, same server; the difference is what you do with it.
Which plan should I pick?
Count your websites, then think about RAM. One website ($25) for one site. Two websites ($40) for a site plus the app or automation next to it, and the usual starting point for builders. Five websites ($80) for a studio or an owner with a few brands. The short guide goes through it with the specs side by side.
How does billing work?
USD, monthly, cancel any time. Checkout creates your own account, and billing lives there from then on. Every price on the site is in US dollars.
Migration
Will EmpathyHost move my site for me?
Yes. Migration is free on every plan. Message us on WhatsApp where your site lives now and how to reach it, and we move it across and check it with you before you switch over.
Technical
Where will my site be hosted?
In the region you choose when you create your server, on Vultr cloud infrastructure. Locations include Toronto, New York, London, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney, among others. Pick the one closest to the people who visit your site.
What hardware runs my server?
Intel Xeon processors with built-in AI acceleration (Intel DL Boost), on Vultr cloud infrastructure. The operating system is Ubuntu. Each plan sets the RAM, vCPU and bandwidth: 1 GB, 1 vCPU and 1 TB for One website; 2 GB, 2 vCPU and 3 TB for Two websites; 4 GB, 2 vCPU and 3 TB for Five websites.
Do I get root access and SSH?
Yes. Every plan is your own Ubuntu server with full root access, SSH and SFTP. Each site runs under its own system user. If you would rather work in a browser, Code Server (VS Code) is a one-click app in your account.
Do I need to install WordPress myself?
No. WordPress is a one-click app in your account. Create your server, add a site, pick WordPress, and it installs, with WP-CLI on the server. If you already have a site somewhere else, we move it across for free instead.
What can I run on my server besides WordPress?
Anything that runs on Ubuntu. It is your own server with root access, so the stack is your call. Node.js, Next.js, Laravel, Python and static sites are first-class; Docker takes the rest. PostgreSQL, Redis, MongoDB, n8n, Supabase, Ollama, Ghost, Uptime Kuma and Nextcloud install as one-click apps from your account. The Builders page has the list.
What platform does EmpathyHost run on?
EmpathyHost is built on the xCloud platform. Your account and your server are yours: you hold the login, you pick the region, you decide what runs on it. You deal with us; the platform handles patching, backups and SSL underneath.
Can I manage my server from Claude Code?
Yes. Your server has SSH, WP-CLI and git push-to-deploy, so Claude Code can open a shell, run WordPress commands and push a deploy like any other terminal session. The platform also has an MCP server and Agent Skills, so an agent can create sites, pull backups and check health through your account. We run our own sites this way.
Do you offer email accounts?
Hosted mailboxes and transactional email delivery are available as add-ons in your account; they are not part of the three plans. If you already use Google Workspace or similar for email on your domain, keep it. It works alongside your plan.

How do I get support?
Message us on WhatsApp and our support team takes it from there. Put your site name in your first message so we know which site you mean.
